Overview

Custom footwear is for patients whose foot structure cannot be accommodated by any off-the-shelf shoe. After prescription and assessment, we take measurements and select a style from our catalog. Footwear is then fabricated to match your exact shape and needs.

Frequently asked question

Orthopedic shoes are modified stock shoes designed for support and comfort, while custom-made shoes are built entirely from scratch based on a 3D scan or mold of your feet to match your exact needs.

Custom shoes are ideal for people with foot deformities, severe leg length differences, chronic swelling, diabetic foot complications, or anyone who can't comfortably wear off-the-shelf shoes due to unique foot shapes or medical needs.

We start with a full assessment, including a digital scan or casting. We then design the shoe to suit your medical and lifestyle needs. Once approved, the shoes are handcrafted and delivered to you for a fitting and final adjustments if needed.

Many custom shoes are eligible for coverage through Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL), private insurance, or WCB. We’ll help guide you through the process and provide all necessary paperwork.

The full process typically takes 6–10 weeks from assessment to delivery, depending on the complexity of your needs and the fabricator's queue.

Why Choose Sole Experience?

General Foot Relief

Achy Feet or just general pain in your feet will cause you discomfort and prevent you from carrying out daily tasks. Want to start feeling young again? You need shoes that will provide you relief and make you feell like you are walking on clouds

Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar Fasciitis usually starts as a dull intermittent pain in the heel and gradually escalates to an acute, persistent discomfort. You need shoes that will help support your feet for some of that discomfort.

Bunions/Hallux Valgus

Bunion Pain is frequently caused by ill-fitting shoes. You need shoes with a wide toe-box that will provide your feet some room to breath and reduce bunions discomfort.

Insurance & Billing

A prescription is required. We work closely with AADL, who offers excellent funding for those who qualify. We’ll handle all paperwork and submit approval requests for you. For all other providers the patient is required to pay and then submit for reimbursement.
